New to fig.

hello all..i am new to growing figs. was wondering what types will be suitable for a newbie.

Welcome to the forum.  If you'd like to share your climate zone, we can tell you what might work best for you.

Welcome from Southern California.  Frank is correct.  Please go to the control panel upper right.  Then, in the signature section put your location/planting zone.  We don't want your address, just something vague like South PA, Zone 5a or something like that.  Different figs do much better in certain planting zones.

Thanks. I am from Malaysia and it is hot and humid here all year with raining season in October till December. Constantly 38 degrees. i currently have a Brown Turkey. Interested to grow more and hope to learn from all of you here. Once again thanks for your help.

Alfig, you might need to protect your figs from the rain.  Some will split and sour.  Figs natural climate is hot and dry.  You will need to find out a way to replicate that.  You have the heat.  Figure out how to keep them dry.

No problem with the rain as i intend to keep them inside my polytunnel which i am building. Thanks DesertDance. i see lots of variety and many that i haven't heard of...

Welcome!  Your local expert is https://www.facebook.com/figmalaysia?fref=ts.  He has lots of different types and sells them.  You can grow almost anything there in your tunnel.  Some figs will split just because of the humidity, like Panache.
