New to Figs

Hello everyone,

I have been lurking for some time now and thought I should jump in.

Last year I moved across the country from Wisconsin to Utah, and bought a house little bit of land. Planting a small orchard has been something that I have always wanted to do.

I grow a large variety of heirloom vegetables (let me know if anyone wants seed) because you cannot buy purple cauliflower at the local grocer. This led me to figs.

I live in a zone 7a, and have 6 varieties of figs rooting.
Black Mission
VdB
Hardy Chicago
Peter's Honey
Paridisio
Blue Celeste

I know that I will have to grow some of these in pots, but I was wondering if anyone could make a suggestion of some of my varieties or some other varieties that I could grow in the ground?

Hello

You can grow figs in the ground. Your best variety for the ground is Hardy chicago, because is it  the hardiest fig. But the Blue celeste is also good for the ground.

Welcome to the forum! Have you checked out the second thread on the forum page? Look for members from your zone and cooler and see what they grow. Good luck!

I am a noob. Thanks Ruben, I will check out that thread.
