New to Figs

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to figs. My first fig plant was given to me by my mother(which was given to her), the plant itself was a stick with a few leaves that didn't have decent root system. It died a few weeks later.

I recently got  a few cutting of an unknown fig (the person said it was from italy). The cuttings just started to root. I was also lucky to get several cuttings from a fellow member here I think is was being called (Anna Bronx White unknown). The A.B.W. cutting are super viable. They sent out roots in less than a week.

I wanted to find out where on the forum, if there is a place to trade /buy cuttings. I would like to try and get a few different types of figs.

Thanks
Peter

Welcome to the forum! You can never have too many figs.

Welcome Peter!

Welcome to the group Peter! I'm curious about the trade/buy answer too!

Welcome to F4F.
Wait until fall which is the time when fig plants go dormant and the cuttings become available from diffident members on the forum.
Also, around 1st of February every year availability of fig cuttings is announced on this site and you can order then:

welcome to the forum. this forum does not have dedicated trade subforum. wait till fall, and trade starts around then. if you are looking for something specific, post wanted thread. unless you have something specific, trade might be slow. but there are some very generous members who might be willing to give away some of their cuttings. then there are always ebay and nurseries.

Buying a plant that's over a foot tall will give you a better chance of getting figs this year.  I'm going to put some cuttings on ebay tomorrow.  If you search on ficus carica you should find most of what's on ebay.

You found the right place... Welcome.  There are great folks here with an amazing wealth of knowledge.

bob gave right suggestion. buy a tree or two.. or three and see how you like it. almost like instant gratification. get VdB (Violette de Bordeaux). readlily available, does well in almost everywhere, and taste great.

Peter...welcome to the Forum...Encanto Farms, which is operated by Jon, the moderator of this forum, will have some nice healthy trees for you to select from...I have purchased from him in the past, and I am a satisfied customer.

Welcome to the forum Pm.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome.

Welcome, by the way!

Welcome to the forum, Peter. Where do you live?
