new to forum

I am new to the forum and would like to start growing fig(s) from containers. A friend is sending me 2 brown turkey and 2 celeste (she did not know which variety) cuttings, but I am in hopes of finding a Negronne cutting or already rooted young plant.  If anyone has any other recommendations of great figs for beginners, and I am in north central KY, then please make your suggestions.
Ideally I would of course enjoy the fruit fresh, for baking, and winemaking.

If you have cuttings or rooted plants available, please send me an email.

Thanks (and the reading has been most interesting), Sara

Sara welcome to "THE" fig forum. I can't help you with any cuttings or plants at this time but I sure wanted to welcome you.

Hi Sara welcome to the forum check your private message box I have some trees and cuttings still available.

Welcome.
EL has negronne available, they are also having a sale on HC, conadria and LSU purple.

Okay, since I am so new....EL stands for?  HC??  Sorry everyone...I will get it, eventually!!!    Is there a master list of everyone's abbreviations anywhere???   Thanks!

EL = edible landscaping a nursery can be found online
HC = Hardy Chicago

Hi Sara, I wish you luck in finding some great trees to enjoy.

Sara,

Welcome to the forum. What types of figs are you interested in? Black ones or green ones?

hoosierbanana,

EL does not have the Negronne available. They had it on their website two weeks ago as in stock, so I placed a order for it but when I got my order they had send me a LSU purple. I called them and they said they didn't have it in their stock so they went ahead and substituted it with LSU purple. What amazes me; 1) they advertise something that they don't have in stock, on-line, 2) they substituted my order for another tree without at least calling me. They told me they would send me a Negronne when it becomes available.
That was my last order with EL after having so much problems with them for past two seasons.

What kind of figs do I like??  CLUELESS.   The selection of figs here in KY is limited to ONE variety and I suspect that is a mission fig (fresh).  Wait, I have had dried kalamata and calimyrna.  SO, I am going into this blind.   Fortunately I have a good beginner's selection on its way with the help of many forum members.  Thank you everyone!!

Have heart set on a Green Greek plant or rooted cutting.....have an inquiry out to Durio's in LA...but does anyone happen to have one they would sell me, please?  Welcome to send PM or email.   Thanks!

Durio will definitely take care of you.

Unfortunately all Dalton (Durio's in LA) has right now are plants in 3gallon containers and they will cost a total of $75 shipped.  Cannot afford that.  Can anyone help me find a green greek??
