New to forum. Interested in Greek

Hello my friends. First post here and fairly new to growing figs but have been in love with figs since I was a little boy traveling to Greece every year. I finally got the urge to start this great hobby. Living in Toronto its a bit more work growing figs but don't mind the experimenting and work involved. I only have 6 trees so far but I am looking in finding cuttings from Greece if anyone knows or has. I have looked on eBay but don't see any as of now. Also i am desperately looking for Marseille black as reading on internet they are very hardy for North. Also want to say how great this site is as I have learned a few things reading here for a while. Thank you

Lampo...thank you for the welcoming and thank you for that link. I had visited that nice man a few years ago but kind of feel bad to bother him which I'm sure he won't look at it like that.

Lambo thank you. I see you are from Portugal. My wife is from Portugal. I just ordered cuttings from Portugal yesterday. Let's see if they come in. It was ordered through eBay from Portugal.

Welcome Pana13.
At this time of year there won't be any fig cuttings (except maybe some green cuttings) since the figs are growing and producing figs.  For cuttings wait until November or later when the figs go dormant and people start pruning their trees for winter.
Meanwhile, scout around Toronto there are thousands of people growing figs in the Italian, Portuguese and Greek areas.

Thanks Pino I take it your from Toronto as well.

Welcome, Pana13. You have come to a great place!! Lots of people here i would say are pros. Good luck!

Glad to hear that you married to a Portuguese lady.. God bless you both.
Pino gave you good advice.
Cuttings intended for later rooting, in Portugal, should always be cut while the trees are fully dormant say, Dec/January, in a New Moon, and kept in a cool place for stratification for at least 45 days... this will help and promote swift and robust rooting of those scions by the end of Feb/March when Nature gives the go ahead for the start of another season.
Here, I  would suggest you to search the forum to try and find good advice on some simple guidelines to insure that your new plants acquire from their infancy the best root systems which are a warrant for a healthy growing and to give you lots of good fruit.

Thank you Fransisco. You are very kind my friend. Yes I thought of ordering in December but I got excited. Also I am just experimenting with rooting cuttings so it's just practice. It would be nice when they come I can get them to root and become trees. These cuttings were bought from eBay. It's sais dark Portuguese and is coming from paredes Portugal.
