Danny,

The home where I grew up has had new owners for at least 20 years. They had a slightly different point of view on edible landscaping. Unfortunately the giant lemon tree (giant tree not the lemons), grapefruit tree, pear tree, many loquat trees, banana trees, and the beloved fig trees are all long gone. I guess I will just need to start a new.  Thanks for the suggestion!

Simon,

No beef with the mission...I love just about all figs equally! I just figure why get a Honda (reliable and lots of people love them) when you might be able to get Ferrari

Thanks again for the ideas and guidance.  What a great group of people you have here!

Well it seems that I have started down the path to being fig crazy.  When I started this post I was under the impression that I would need to plant the tee in the ground to be successful (an this is definitely part of the plan later). I am going with figs in pots for the time being.  So much for one tree, here is the list so far:  RdB from Gary, VdB and Celeste from Encanto, and the fig assortment from Baker Creek.  Quote of the day from my wife "Another fig?".  I am sure some of you have heard this from your spouses.  I will try to contain myself at the current number, but it is tough with so many amazing varieties out there.  Thanks to all of you you who helped with valuable info and kind words.

Congrats  Shawn, you made the leap. You picked some great cultivars, I'm sure they will do great for you!

As far as not getting any more.... well, I started with two, I thought I would be good with just them for years.  Then the following year I bought 2 TC fig trees, then got three treez for X-Mas, this year I bought 2 more TC figs and I am currently rooting 23 cultivars.

So yeah.... make some room bud!!!

Congratulations Shawn!

It sounds like I could be in serious trouble!  I could totally see myself going down that same road (don't tell my wife!).  What is a TC fig?
