New to the forum

Hello, everyone.  I'm new to the forum and would like to introduce myself.  My name is Julie but friends call me Jules.  Even though I'm new to the forum and to growing figs, I'm not new to figs in general.  I grew up helping my grandmother pick figs from her huge fig tree...probably every bit of 20ft tall or more.  It's gone now but I remember it well.  We always had fresh fruits and veggies growing up and it's something I've missed since my grandparents passed in 1982 and 1990.  Last year, I asked around and was able to get enough figs from various sources to can 30+ pints.  It got me to thinking about growing my own.  It also got my brother interested, I think.  As it turns out, I did more "thinking" about it and my brother did more "doing" about it....lol.  I recently received 3 first year trees from him.  It seems he's doing very well in the figging field...lol.  I ran across this forum last night while looking for more information and low and behold, who do you think I found is already a member of this group?  Yep, my brother.  His user name is jd_smith.  So, that's pretty much my story.  I have a Ronde de Bordeaux, Double Header?, and Peter's Honey....thank's lil bro.  =)  I will also be in a position to get cuttings from a few other trees this winter but I may need help identifying the varieties.  Below is a picture of the Peter's Honey.  It has a tiny little fig on it already.  =)

Hope you stay and don't disappear like the many new members that join the community.

Welcome!  We won't hold JD's behavior against you  ;)

The Ronde de Bordeaux sells for over $100 on ebay so he must like you a lot.

Thanks, Jarrett.  I hope to be here for quite a while.  =)  Thanks, Bob.  I had no idea the Ronde de Bordeaux cost so much.  He MUST love me A LOT!  =D

Welcome to the forum aka a enabling site for figaholics and normal nutcases ;-).
RdB is a harder to get ahold of fig. Hope you have plenty of room for fig trees, you will need it.

Thanks, everyone!  You make me feel so welcome here.  I'm looking forward to learning more about figs and gettin' to know y'all better.  My brother lives in Irving, TX so we will be coming from different directions, but yes, I will be at the Big Fig Gig!!   I can hardly wait and the added bonus, I get to see my brother.  =)

Mike, Hooks, TX is about 160 miles northeast of Dallas along I-30.  We are just west of Texarkana, TX/AR.
