Gorgeous!

I don't know if this counts but my witch hazel is in full bloom under the snow. I also have some winter aconite near bloom under about 6 in of snow.

Pepper thats funny and terrible at the same time! !

Man, those are beautiful!

Thanks guys,, we love them. They been on this property for of 100 years. They grow wild here when we cut the grass we mow down seedlings

Nice cheer in  dreary late February.

I find it strange that these flowers bloom only in winter The extra cold nights we get now and then browns the flowers but they keep producing from November till and of February. Figured i post some color for my northern friends. Dont like that yall get such a harsh winter and all the extra effort yall put in to protect your figs shows that a little snow doesn't stop your love for figs. Richie from louisiana zone 8

Our roses bloomed all through winter, and this week we decided to prune them.  It was tough cutting off budding branches, but they never went dormant, and needed to be pruned.  Tough Love.

Camilias are so pretty!  My mom used to float them in a bowl of water.

Suzi

Good idea suzi. Will do that.

I love camellias but can't grow them here due to lack of water. However my Nectaplum and Anna Apple are in full bloom as are my lemon and orange (love their scent). I'm going to have a butt-load of apples if I can get a cage built around it to keep the squirrels out. Peach and apricot are still asleep. Figs are leafing out and one Branca has 2" breba figs already. Come on RAIN...doing my rain dance. :-)

My orange tree is blooming now too. Love that scent!

The other thing of note blooming now are the lupines that come up on the hillside. Just gorgeous.

You should be getting some RAIN Sue!  It rained off and on today here.  It's off at the moment, and JD just brought me in a beautiful pink, Our Lady of Guadalupe rose and a white rosebud that is just opening.

Suzi

We are supposed to get 1/2-3/4" tonight and tomorrow but that only brings us up to less than 5" for the year. We should be closer to 10". Even with this rain...still doing 'the dance'. :-)

We get, that much from the morning dew!! Lol. Wish you, could take some of our rain. Richie from louisiana

We've gotten nothing from this storm in my part of S.California. 'They' said 100% chance at times, but you could see the green blobs on the radar split and simply go around us. Supposed to rain more tonight, but I'm not hopeful. I was hoping to collect more rainwater today, but....

We've gotten about 9 inches thus far this year which is good but not enough to change the reservoirs at all. We're in the foothills so get somewhat more than 'down below'.  Hate to think of the rationing that may be ahead. Shudder. In this household, plants will get priority over bathing.

I keep writing the POTUS to build a water pipeline from east to west instead of the Keystone. Don't think anyone is listening. :-)

Well, on topic, I'm looking at some beautiful blooming geraniums in pinks, lavenders and whites.  Nasturtiums are all in bloom too, and of course fields of California Poppies can be seen on the drive into town.  My Anna Apples, the peach and apricot are also in bloom.

@svanessa:  Hope you got some rain.  We are already on rationing.  We can only water every other day, and they choose the days by address, so not everyone waters on the same day.  At least ours is automated on a timer, and figs are drought friendly, so all is well.  The rationing began last summer.  I don't see any ill effects.

We only get to water twice a week either in the morning or evening. Some local trees really don't look too good. But most things are fine. That's probably from the little rain we have gotten. In general however, I think many people plant the wrong things and water too much here in California. And no one needs a lush green lawn in this dry environment. Period.

My Cal poppies are beginning to bloom as are the local yellow wild mustards and sour grass (Oxalis). Apricot tree is just beginning, but sadly I fear the Babcock peach (low chill) didn't get enough cold to bloom this year. Also the blueberry bushes have lots of flowers right now. And a scant few ripe fruits from mid winter blooms.

It's really pretty here right now. Clean air, green hills...

You are right, Gina!  The days of lush green lawns are pretty much gone.  We have one, but it's fake!  We call it a putting green, and it "feels" green, but in summer, it's as hot as concrete to walk barefoot on!
