New UC Davis order process. Have you used it?

I ordered  some fig cuttings from UC Davis on October 4 and received confirmation on Oct 16.  I already had the order form stored in my computer and followed the process I had competed three times before by emailing the form in so I had not visited the website.  They accepted my order but advised me to use the new online order form from now on.  Has anyone used the new system to order your figs for next year and what do you think about it.  Someone on Youtube is saying that the process asks you what you intend to do with the fig cuttings and that you need to report results to them?  Was this individual maybe mistakenly applying for germplasm?  I guess I'll have to go through the online form to see how it works.

Yes, you need to state your reasons for requesting scion. They have sent a request for report for several years.

How do you report back to them?  Will they request an update on your fig observations every year?

Im not asking this to be misleading but what is the right answer to there ( what you intend to do with the fig cuttings) question is there a wrong answer ?

I just placed an order with the new system.  Initial observations are that it is a little overwhelming and not too straight forward at first.  It seems setup by and geared to researchers and I guess that's understandable.  I wasn't sure which search option to use to narrrow down to figs.  I don't see a link anywhere listing what fig accessions are available this year.  So it seems you have to have an idea of how the fig is stored in their data base before you can find it.  I was able to find Ischia Black for example by searching it's name.  For some reason it could not find Black Madeira by name.  Luckily I have a list of past accession numbers available but I found that if you search by accession you drop the leading zeros to get a hit in the data base.  I also think they need to add a box for mailing information.  I just placed that information under special instructions with my fedex number.  I did immediately get an email reply with a copy of the fig order requested but I guesss that is not a confirmation though.

I just said I was a home gardener/fig grower looking for varieties that will produce figs in my area.  I could just enter mad scientist too.

LOL Ill be the mad scientist and you be the gardener together we can make one BIG fig.   Pumpkin size

You can always say you are researching how various figs will perform in your area.  I did not use the new system, but it seems easy!
