Hi,

First i'm sorry for my very bad English. I live in the south of France (zone 8a)

I'm very interested by figs and also other plants (palms, bamboos ...). 

I have seven figs which i would like you help me to find the name.

For the number 2 and 7, i think it's "Rouge de Bordeaux" (Pastilière) - common fig in my region

For the number 5, i think it's "Castex" . I live very near of Castex village.

For the number 3, perhaps "Brunswick" ... ?

For 1, 4 and 6 i have no idea.

All the trees have minimum 40 years old. Probably only local varieties (west south of France)

I'll try to put pics now ...

Number 3 ("Brunswick" ??? or perhaps "Longue d'Aout") - Bifère - Very productive - Flower figs are very big and long and autumn figs are smaller (still big) and more round :

Number 4 (No idea) Little figs, good taste, good for drying - Probably Unifère :

 

Number 5 (I think it's "Castex" i'm living near of this little village ) 

 

Number 6 (No idea)  Nice colour very red - Taste medium - Very low production on this tree - Unifère/Bifère I'm not sure but i think it's bifère :

Number 7 : I think it's the same than number two "Rouge de Bordeaux" "Pastilière"

Are you sure number 1 is the same fruit? the second picture (early September) looks like Byadi to me.

Yes, i looked other pictures and i'm sure there isn't mistake.
But the figs of the begin september seems to be late "figs flower" - ? -
This year we had a late jelly in May that did a lot of damage - is it tied, I don't know.

Perhaps "Violette Dauphine" for number 1 and "Vendangeuse" for number 4 ?

First of all, you show some beautiful figs here!

I think most of the members here are from the US, and it can be very hard for us to help identify locally found figs from southern France. Most will be unknown to us in the US. Hopefully some of your follow European members can help more.

Lhamas,thank you for posting your beautiful pictures,the way you have presented them is exactly as people would wish to see them to best provide an identification.The big problem is that France has MANY fig varieties and only a fraction of those have made it to the United States.

Your best bet may be to contact Pierre Baud at Pepinieres Baud or Thierry at Figues du Monde,(apologies for spoiling the French language as I can't remember spellings.They are both hugely knowledgeable and have sizeable collections in France.

Also you might find help on the European Figs page on Facebook,plenty of collectors from Europe there
