Newbee from the Philippines

Hi
I am a newbee from the Philippines.
We hardly have any Figs here (ficus carica) apart from some trees in a few gardens..they are green and small but quite sweet and edible..a few of us have black mission and brown turkey. I would like to learn more about figs grow in tropical climates.

I am sure I will learn a lot here

Ponchit

Welcome Ponchit you will learn lots here there is alot of knowledgeable people on this forum.

I remember the Philippnes this time of year, very warm compared to our -10 right now,  I think you would do well with our late ripening cultivars like col de dama and Hivernenca etc as you have a lot of heat units for these to ripen, are you around Baguio?

Welcome to the forum

Ponchit, welcome to F4F.

There are quite a few members from Malaysia who seem to grow wonderful looking figs. Weather should be quite similar.
My wife was originally from Bacolad.
I bet you could grow anything you wanted to at higher altitudes like Baggio.

Welcome from me too!  Look forward to seeing photos of your figs!

Welcome!  If it rains a lot where you are you can look for varieties with a tight eye or those that are not affected by rain.

welcome ponchit

We have member from Indonesia that are growing them successfully.
