newbie from N.J.

Finally found time to introduce myself to the figs4fun members. I live in Maplewood,N.J. (Zone 6A) and would definitely consider myself a newbie although I have managed to grow an unk dark fig that was brought to N.J. many years ago by my Italian grandparents (probably sewn in the hem of grannies dress along with everything else of value).  This tree is probably one of the most passed around things in my families traditions. Up until about a year ago I didn't even know that figs had names other than dark and light.
Any fig growing knowledge that I now have has come from Bills Figs in Flemington while attending his seminars and figfeast.  This is where I got some additional trees (Alma,Galbun,Osborn and Kadota) to keep the family tree company.

Thanks for letting me ramble on and looking forward to being a productive member
