Newbie needs cutting/repotting help

Hi there! I am new to figs, and hope to get some fig plants going. A kind person allowed me to dig up some fig plants they had that had been planted in an area of their yard with no sun.  Some of them are just cuttings with leaves, others have roots.  Being new to growing figs, I am not sure how to proceed. Re cuttings, can I put them in rooting liquid?  Re: rooted cuttings, is vermiculite the best medium to put the rooted cuttings in? I will be potting my plants, as I am in southwest ct and will be bringing them inside for the winter.
I have enclosed pictures of cuttings (#1) and rooted cuttings (#2).  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks in advance!
FYI I am in CT zone 6a/6b

Welcome to the forum, Robina!

I would get those cuttings in tap water right away and strip all but one or two of the top-most leaves. Then prepare a 1 or 2-gal pot and mix a 2:1 potting soil of your choice and agricultural perlite and pot them separately. Lastly, place them in a filtered sun area until they start growing again. Then you will need to gradually aclimate them to full sun. Good luck!

Take all of the leaves off of all cuttings with roots or not, except maybe 1 or 2 near the top. If they are large leaves at the top, cut them in half. Pot up the rooted cuttings and put in a shady location, a good idea to tent them too until they settle in. The unrooted cuttings, should be trimmed to size, about 8" or so as long as you have 3 nodes or maybe 4. I usually allow slightly more size per cutting for green cuttings so if in doubt, make them slighly larger, go with 4 nodes. I have had good success putting them in straight perlite. If you use vermiculite be sure not to wet it too much as it tends to retain more moisture than perlite and with cuttings having air at the roots is important. Tent them too with plastic food storage bags or something larger or put them all in a plastic bin with a lid but put some holes in it for some airation. Put them in the shade as well. I put my summer cuttings on my back patio in the shade. Good luck and welcome to the forum. Oh there are other methods for this, just telling you what works well for me.

Ruben is the man!  Take his advice, Robina!
