Newbie Question

Do you start the shoots the same way you start with branches?

Not understanding the question????

If you mean suckers coming from the roots, if you get some roots with them, when removed, you can generally just pot them up and put them in the shade. If they do no have roots, then the need to be rooted just like cuttings from the branches..

Thank you.

I have done what Jon suggests.  if the branch is too long that has the roots and has lots of leaves, just just the top half off.  More leaves will sprout.  You don't want the leaves "transpiring" too much water since the few roots will not be able to keep up.  If you have roots, it will survive.  If no roots, just root like normal.  My experience is that "green" cuttings take a bit longer but I don't have many data points to really draw a conclusion.

Something to think about. Rain washes the salts out of the soil. As long as your soil drains real well. It should be fine. Not sure if this is a lot of rain for days or what. Here where I am every drop counts. Good luck and keep us posted.
