Newbie Questions

Hello:

I bought a Celeste fig and it has died back the first two years but this year it has survived so far.  I ordered some cuttings and LORD willing will have more to set out.

I ordered:

Brooklyn White
LaRadek Brown Turkey
Marseilles Black VS
Nero 600M
Ronde De Bordeaux
Sal's EL
White Triana
Kathleen's Black

Of these which would most likely survive in a tree form and which should be left as a bush.  I am in between a 6b and 7a here.

Should I set them out this year or leave them in pots the first year.

Probably you mean in the ground.
Tree form or bush form mostly depend on the upbringing of the plant such as pruning. Some variety may sucker more than others and may required attention to create a tree form in climate zone where risk of deadly frost is minimum.
In you climate zone 6a you may have difficulty in maintaining tree form over time without good winter protection because of frequent or occasional die-backs. You will have easy life with bush form with plants in the ground.

Brooklyn White, Nero 600 M, Ronde Bourdeaux, Kathleen Black and Sal's El are cold hearty figs to zone 6a. I would still have protection for low teens and single digit temps.

Thanks for the replies, I have a couple of spots where I want trees and the rest if they die to the ground keep them in bush form when they grow back.
