next years plan

Ok,this my plan for next seasons cuttings. I will collect the cuttings I want to start, but them in the frig till late spring. Once I take them out, slowly (days) bring them up to ambient temp. Place all of the same kind in one gallon pot of good potting soil. water and place in  shade under my bigger potted fig trees. I have the best luck when I just put them in a pot outside and let them be. I know everyone has there ways, but this the easiest and fastest way for me.

Funny you mention it. I had perfect success with the cuttings I went out and poked in the dirt under the oak tree. I just got some cuttings recently and decided to put them in cups but used the soil I use to up pot and put them outside in the shade. (Not the ones from you Tim)
I think we're incredibly luck to have the climate for it.

That sounds interesting.  I have never done that.  When do you take the cuttings?  How do you store them in the frigidaire?  Do you wrap them in paper towel, keep them moist?   Thanks, Valerie

Generally cuttings are taken when the tree is dormant and if you keep tham in the fridge they can be viable for up to a year from what I understand.

i haven't had luck with just sticking them in soil. even at cup stage. it's rather strange. i started with peat pot method and that works for me like charm. i'm trying to move away from peat pot method since there has been change in design. but so far, no luck what so ever...

I'm sorry Pete. Maybe you need to get a live oak first :)
