This is one of those few that are still on my wish list. Having grown up not too far from the famous falls (no doubt they were named after this most famous fig) (well, OK, maybe the roaring waters and mist had something to do with the name too)... anyway, having grown up close enough to visit those falls 6 or 7 times each year as a kid, this fig really caught my ear. Then when I saw those leaves... well I've never seen another fig with a leaf that looks quite as much like a beautiful sugar maple leaf as this one! Almost enough that I'd want to see if you could make syrup from it. (Well, I did say almost).
Anyway, it's on my wish list for someday, would happily trade whatever I've got for it. And hats off to you guys growing it. And I have to say... how fitting for you guys from Canada... to have a silhouette of a Niagara Black fig leaf (done in red on a white field) on your national flag! You must be rightly proud, John Parav.
Mike central NY state, zone 5 (and formerly from WNY, not far from the falls)
p.s. I'd love to hear the story of how this one was found, and how it came by its name.
I searched and found this from you John: http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/My-best-fig-so-far-.-Help-identify-5493096?highlight=niagara
