Niagara Black cutting in progress.

i know it's late in the season for rooting, but this was given to me by very generous member of the forum. rafed :) i couldn't resist but to try rooting it now. i'll keep it indoor through the winter.

they are rooting very fast and putting out the leaves. due to my lack of attention, one of the bud had rot, however, that has dropped off and on the next node new leaves are coming out. very strong variety as far as rooting and growth so far is concerned.

looking forward to this in 2014. i'll probably knock the figs off next year.

Congratulations Pete!

They look very pretty!

Pete,

I think you will be pleasantly suprized by its vigor. Good luck with it.

Has anyone been growing Niagara Black long, enough to compare the fruit and leaf to Kathleen's Black, and or Mission fig?

If you have been growing those three side by side, do they look like they might be from the same family, if not the same?

Thanks.

Heck,

only knock half the figs off next year so you can give us all an update on the quality, taste, etc of your new fig trees! Keep us posted.

Bob,

Have you seen JohnParav's thread on his find of unknown Niagara Black?

comparing the pictures of fruit and leaves, it doesn't look like KB. unless that difference is due to location. i have not seen any of my KB dripping honey yet.

It looks like possible 2 other cultivars I have seen:Nebo,or Barnisotte Black.
It is not Kathleen Black, nor Black Mission,or Noire de Caromb..

Way to go Pete,

Now we're all going to be yelling "Turn Key".;)
