Niagara in Florida

A few more days before sampling my first Niagara Blacks.... Actually the birds beat me by two weeks. Yes, I know the color is not what you expected but I can assure you that cuttings were personally handed to me by John Parav freshly cut from his beautiful tree in Toronto, one year ago.

More to come.

Hey Frank ,

Got it to fruit in the first year , that's great .
I would not have recognized it if you didn't identify it .
Chivas also managed to get it to fruit in the first year .
And don't pick until it drips honey for atleast a couple days .

John

John, Frank,

That sound like a tough order. So don't pick it, just take a bite out of it right there on the tree.

John one of my cuttngs from last fall fruited also (just 1 fig). It was green also

My sucker that I have been growing since last july is about four feet now, but I removed all fruit this summer. Interesting the fruit is green.

J

Black or white they all look good.  Thanks for sharing Frank.

I like the story behind this tree.  Can't wait to hear your report of the taste!

Mike

One more thing I love about this fig is the honey dripping, the ants couldn't gen into the fig, they take the honey from the eye but can't get inside it to spoil it.

Just put mine in the ground a couple weeks ago....can't wait for next year.

They say, good things come to those who wait. It is so.

It seems to have turned a little darker!

Its a trick to have Black in name ! ... lol

Big conspiracy to get martin to eat white figs, we will have to start making figs called Black Adriatic, Black Kadota etc and photoshop images until Martin accepts a tree from someone.

Edited to say All in fun, no offense to Martin and definitely not promoting doctored pics to sell anything.

You can lead a Martin to green figs, but you can't make him eat.

Mike   :-)

p.s. I had to be really careful in how I phrased that... :-)   There're just too many "offcolor" ways to make this joke.  (And by offcolor, I obviously mean "not dark enough").
