Nick's Havasu Unknown Purple

A few of my forum friends have expressed interest in this tree.  I found it growing at the winter home of "Nick", an old Canadian/Italian gentleman at Lake Havasu three years ago.   It has large purple fruit, not overly sugary, and is my personal favorite tastewise to date.  The tree roots easily, grows rapidly, and often produces fruit in it's first year of growth from a cutting.  It thrives in extreme heat, and has done very well for me in the Arizona desert.  I have no idea what it will do in a cooler climate.

When (what month) does it typically bear?  Count me as interested  :)

Depends on climate.  At Lake Havasu I had Breba figs in...June I think.  Then a main crop in August.  Then a seperate second main crop in October/November I think.   That was the year it didn't freeeze, and remember...Lake Havasu is one of the hottest cities in the US.

We have since moved.  We've been in our new home for 14 months.  I got maybe 10-12 figs off my year and a half old tree that I brought with me in a pot (the one in the pics).  I planted it in April.  The pic of the little cutting is off that tree.

.

Count me to if you have some extras.

Suzi wants to be in the count!

Patti would love to be in that count also , please !! Love the size of the fruits.

You can give anything you would send to Suzi to Pattee.  I didn't suffer what she did!  Go Pattee!

Hi Dave,
If you've got any left, I'm interested.  The leaves look a lot like the Tioga Unknown that I found near here.  Let me know your wish list... I'll send you some cuttings in trade if you'd like.

OK.  When I  prune next month I will contact those who express interest on this thread as cuttings remain available.  Cuttings I will have are this unknown and some VDB.  If the thread gets burried I will bump it up the week before.   I have a few promised as payback as my part of a previous trade, and a few who have made requests to me in pm's.  After that...everything I prune that looks viable is up for grabs.

I have no more room  for fig trees, so those who receive cuttings may consider them a Christmas gift.  Feel free to refund my postage if you like, but it's not necessary or expected.

One! that is all I need!  Let me know you wish to trade or postage and all. Thank you!!!!!

it looks like the fig I have a large tree, but your wood is darker, much darker than mine!  it looks very good!

Hi Dave,
Sure would like to get my name on that list somewhere.  I don"t know how they will grow in New Jersey, but I would like to try.  I'll PM you.
