Hey Sal very nice looking pics and I trully wish my fig season was as long as yours man you still got allot of figs on those babies. Wow that pic of the grand canyon looks really high, I am not too fond of heights but thats a lovely photo beautifull view.

Sal, glad to see you made it home just in time to eat some figs. Thanks for the pictures. I almost went to the canyon in 2003 but Linda was afraid we'd fall in.

Hi vaplantman and welcome to the forum. The picture you a referring to is a yellow unknown fig. It has been late in ripening and been hit and miss as far as quality. It might get one more season before I make a decision to keep or discard.
Nelson and Gene some of my trees are flushing again with fruit, it has been a long hot summer but this week the temps have been down. As far as the Canyon the picture does not do it justice.

What does flushing mean, as opposed to another crop and how can you tell which it is?

Hi Noss, I've heard the term flushing used and I just take it to mean new growth and figs late in season and might be considered a 3rd crop. I am also new to figs so please correct me if I'm wrong. In warmer climates I think figs can give an extra crop. I have picked ripe figs in Jan. if that means any thing

All I've noticed with the Celestes, which are grown trees, is that they start putting on fruit early and just keep producing until it gets too cold and they have lost their leaves.  I just ate a Celeste this afternoon and it was pretty good.  I picked it early to get to it before the birds could.  I've taken the nets off the tree, since the fruiting is winding down.  I'm not sure I would know how to tell if something was a second, or third crop.  I hope someone can clarify.  I don't guess it really matters as long as the tree keeps on putting out figs for us to eat, eh?  :)
