Do not buy this Magnolia:

The nice fig-fruit picture was stolen form Park Seeds (Petite Negra).
2-3 years from now; you will be surprised about the different  fruit-look!
[and by that time it will be too late for any -ve (red) FB]

The Magnolia is really a  'Brunswick-type' fig with brownish-skin  and amber/strawberry-pulp.
[as not to the fake black-purple/blood-red skin/pulp colors shown]
All Brunswicks tend to sour in moist conditions, but may perform perfect elsewhere.

Heck, further down I see a pic of a plum?
Who are these guys [ebay hortus119] think they kidding?

Thanks Gorgi I really wish I could find a fig that really looks like the one pictured from parks and seed.

Keep em HONEST George ;-)

Yeah, that's a beauty, Rob. Good catch, Gorgi! He's certainly pulling a fast one.

what kind of fig could that possibly be? It is beautiful

Hey Chris, everything you need to know about that picture and that fig can be found here:  http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=5090983

You can find a revisit and more pictures here:  http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=5102969

The first pic in that second link is not the same fig... I think it will be pretty clear which pics are the same fig and which aren't ;)

George, here is another ebayer selling a "white genoa fig". It's actually an avocado tree and I have emailed this ebayer and asked if they were sure this was a 'fig tree', she replied with "oops, my mistake" and then kept reposting the same avocado picture labeled as a white genoa fig tree. Obviously they just either do not care of don't have a clue. I vote for the former...

Are those same people on Ebay the ones trying to sell ice to Eskimos?

Yes, the one picture is the one Parks Seed Co has for Petite Negri.  Is that not a true picture of that variety, then?

What is the matter with so many people who sell fig trees?

In a nutshell?  Their love of money is greater than their love of figs.
Alternately, they care much more about the money than the figs.

It's a very salesman-esque attitude in my opinion.  Your main interest is making the sale by hyping up the product with pretty words and pictures; you don't care about the satisfaction of the buyer after purchase, as long as the money is in your hand.  This is how most of the salespeople I've met in my industry are, at least.

This mentality/attitude/practice not just on eBay, either.  We have some in the fig communities at large that don't fall far from that tree.  Fortunately, it's just a couple, rather than the colossal amount you'll find on eBay.
