This fig was shared by a very good friend of mine in Europe. I was growing Violette Sollies but it hasn't been a good producer and it produced late in Albuquerque. It may do better in other regions so I encourage those who have VS to give it a few years and see how it does.
If it's any consolation, there are many other desirable figs that just don't do well here. It may have something to do with our elevation of 5000 ft. It's painful but one has to accept this truth. VS is an excellent fig but it isn't for Albuquerque.
This is the first season that my NdB produced figs so this is exciting to see that it produces earlier than VS and is more productive. I am growing this tree in a large container and it has three main branches.
These figs take a long time to ripen. The variety Melanzana has the same trait.
Once my NdB ripens, hopefully over the next few days, I will take more detailed photos.
