I was wondering if anyone knew what the plant is in the attached picture? I was visitng my grandfather when I noticed this plant growing in the neighbor's yard. Also if you know the plant, is it deer food? Thanks!

I'd guess it's a jumbo hosta or a small elephant ear.

Alocasia, Colocasia... ?

If you look closely, there are some flowers right int he middle of the photo.   Looks like a Calla Lilly.

I was told that it does flower. In in zone 6A and it looks too big to be newly planted.

looks like a calla lilly to me, at least it looks like the ones in my back yard.
Although mine have other colours of flowers. In my zone I have to did them up in the fall, and store them, the corms or tuber or whatever the "bulb" is called, cold but not frozen.

Calla Lily Zantedeschia aethiopica "White Giant" the plants have a very snarky sap and they are quite deer resistant

Can they be invasive?  Like spreading?  I think we had them when I was a kid, and I remember Daddy kicking them to the curb..........

Suzi, in warmer zones I would guess they could be very invasive,
here they would die if left out over winter.

Yes, it's a calla lily.  I have some just like that....not invasive....die back in the winter....beautiful large flowers.....easy to get pieces of and make new calla lilies with.

Yes, calla lily. Not particularly invasive in the sense of being obnoxious. They will spead, but they are very easy to control. At least mine were. Lived for years with no care.

THANKS! Really looks like a touch of the tropics that can grow in 6a
