Calling for another light freeze, heavy frost on Thursday morning (29-30F). Strawberries and blueberries are blooming, persimmons, pecans and Pomegranites are budding out. Not to mention the inground Figs and 40+ potted figs......AUUUGGGHHHH!!!!!
That stinks! I'm sorry Greg.
I'd be on our toes for the next 3 weeks, at least.
it's almost may.. sorry to hear the temp is just being a pain. weather gave me ton of issues last yr. hope things will get back to the scheduled program soon.
Sorry Greg. Hopefully everything will be fine. Norhayati
Geeze, that's terrible . Sorry Greg
Christmas lights, blanket, plastic over that.
If it stays 28 or above the blueberries and strawberries will be fine. 27 is the damage temp.
Oy Vey!
Gregg if you can throw any ole tarp or plastic over them. It's the wind chill blowing that had been the kiss of death for me as it drops the temp another 5+. Good luck and our fingers are crossed for you.
Don't you guys have any 'fleece' over there? Works wonders over here - not that I've needed to use it lately. Commiserations Greg.
Good info WillscThanks Bob and Vince,
Its a nightmare that doesn't want to end. Good luck I hope you can salvage something, with 40 potted plants you will still have a bounteous crop!
Every time I see this topic I think of this old Adam Sandler skit.
I was out between the rainstorms today and noticed the very beginning of bloom on the blackberries. Winter ain't over till blackberry winter is over. They're calling for nighttime temperatures here to drop into the 40s Wed. If they run true to form they'll lower that number by a couple of degrees every day till it's "oop's, frost tonight". It's been that kind of winter.
Greg, How did it go for you the other night? We had 37F here in Central AR, but did you get sub-freezing? I hope your plants did OK
Gene 32 and heavy frost Glad I covered everything Minor burn on a peach and a pear
Freeze, whats that?
