Nordland 8-13-14 Updated

Rather large fig with thick tender skin with not much flavor to it. The  inside is a little jammy with
a honey melon flavor. It did have a small amount of crunch. May have been affected by the rain some but not watered down. It also could have needed another day. Had the second of this variety today and it was so much better. Much more flavorful skin and the inside was more jammy and sweet. Moved my rate up to a 9 from the original 7.

Thanks for the report and pictures

Not a very pretty fig and a gaping hole for an eye but please keep us informed as to taste of others in drier weather and more time on tree.  I'm interested

thanks for sharing

Mike, we're had too much rain this year.  A repeat of last year, just a few weeks later.  And not much heat.  Over the past 3 weeks, Charlotte has been between 10 and 15 degrees below the norm.    I'm picking figs every day but they have no taste.  Surprisingly, those that I've picked were not sour.  Even the birds are not attacking my figs.  Looking forward to next year.

Mike, do you think Nordland and Longue d'Aout are the same?

Steve, you have probably read the same articles and discussions that I have about  these two. I have only tasted this one Nordland that
ripened during the rain. I can not say for sure at this time but I will try to do a comparison if I can get them both to ripen at the same time.
The leaves look identical and the green fruit do also.

bump for my update

jdsfrance and optimist, I certainly don't mind your comments or pics about figs on my thread but I would appreciate it if you take other
conversations to your on thread or PM/EM. If you don't mind please delete your comments I am speaking of on this thread. Thank you
in advance.

Very nice Lilli. Yes it is a greenish brown color.

Thanks all for updated photos of the leaves.
