Norman's Yellow

Hi guy's, I haven't posted in a long time, but read the forum frequently. I am trimming my Norman's Yellow tree so it can regrow for brebas next year. Five fresh cuttings are free for $5 postage. These figs are large, tight eyed and delicious. I know they do well in warm areas, but not sure about other areas. I don't have a picture of the figs but they are similar to Desert King, only yellow when ripe. PM me please.

My nemesis here is always birds. My large tree was covered in figs and I discovered a few ripe back in mid May(they're always my first figs)  Boy, were they tasty. I was going to cover it the next morning with netting and when I went out, the tree was completely stripped of all figs by a flock of migrating birds. URRGGGHH!!!!

Anyway if anyone would like some cuttings, let me know

Thank you Rafed!

Thanks I'm looking forward to trying them.

Received the cuttings today. Thank you very much.

Thanks so much for the cuttings Tim! They arrived yesterday and I started them today =)

Thanks Tim

Tim, I put my cuttings in the "fig nursery," laid horizontal in a one inch trench, lightly covered.  One came up.  Then another, and now there are 4.  Funny the timing.  The first was a month ago.  The new ones are just popping up everywhere.  They are surrounded by slug bait, and fingers crossed at least one makes it!

My late daddy was named Norman, so this is one I want to take good care of and turn into a big tree.

Very nice of you, thanks for sharing.

Best,

Here is one of the Norman's Yellow cuttings I received from you a couple of months ago. It was the first time I tried my "winter" propagation method in the summer. I used some left over and used  long sphagnum moss, very slightly dampened in a tupperware container for about a month in a dark spot in my outdoor shed. I only opened it a few times and they all rooted nicely. I then transplanted into nice potting mix/peat moss and a shady spot for about a week, then gradually more sun. Here he is about 2 months later and looking really good.
Thanks for making Norman available to us Tim. It was a variety I've always wanted.

No breba crop this year on my two trees, but they are aggressively growing.  Hopefully next year.  Probably will take a lot of time to get really tasty brebas.

Still, I'm very happy to grow this variety!
