Northeast fig meeting

Gosh, wish I would have known about this!  I guess I missed the original post.  Bass, do you have a mailing list for this meeting?  If so, I'd love to be on it.

Super looking group, was disappointed I couldn't make it this year. I can see I missed out on a good time. 3 Cheers to Bass for putting this on. In the future I'd love to host one.

You're welcome Vito, we will miss you next year!

Bass,
Thank you so much for hosting this great fig gathering,
please be sure to thank your wife for me as well,
she does a wonderful job hosting so we can all
get together to talk figs and fruits.
It was really nice to see everyone from last year
and nice to meet some new people this year as well.
I really look forward to this every year, I have tons of fun.
The pot luck lunch is always interesting and delicious,
and there is always something for everyone.
And the bonus of the day is the raffle!
Thank You, Debbie

What could be better than hanging out with a bunch of fig nuts?  The food was great and there was even some excellent home made wine and beer!  Great seeing old friends and meeting new ones.  Thanks Bass for hosting this nice gathering.  Thanks Vito and Mark, hope to see you at the Staten Island fig festival in September.

Ed, do you know the dates for the Staten Island Fig Festival this year?

Every year I say I'm going to Staten Island for the fig festival, this year I may actually do it. Yes what is the date?

You guys are welcome. It was fun and I just wish my place was bigger to have a much bigger crowd. Some thought I have a farm of several acres, but as you see I make full use of every ft I have. Size doesn't always matter.

wish i were a few hundred miles closer.  would love to come some day

Staten Island fig fest info:

From the organizer, Pamela Silvestri,

We call it together every September 15th at 7 p.m. at the Turtle Fountain in Midland Beach. (It survived the hurricane and by then the beach should be back open.)

Sue
Are you coming?

Thanks Bass for hosting and everyone who came- my wife and I had a great time. Looking forward to next year

I admit it's me.
I know Bass through this link http://www.npr.org/blogs/thesalt/2012/08/22/159750471/meet-a-man-on-a-mission-to-save-rare-and-unusual-figs
And I am surprise it's not a big farm, but it's a lot of fun!

Well we have another opportunity to meet and mingle and talk figs. Tim Drag has invited anyone interested to come to his home,  Sunday September 22 for a similar fig meet and greet.  Start time 10:30AM. Burgers, hotdogs and beverages will be provided, bring food if you wish. You can send me a PM for details or contact Tim (Slingha) at Yuku. I will post again as the meeting time approaches.

Hello,
I had many people asking me if we're having the gathering or not, I would really like to continue our traditions, since we were the first to have a fig gathering.
This will be our 5th year to gather. It will either be June 15th or the 22nd.
Let me know what you guys think as far as dates.

Bass,

Either date would work for me. The 22nd may work a little better. Do you have a list of things you'd like people to bring food-wise? Would be happy to bring something.

I have some figs I'd like to bring to either swap or sell. Do you like it to be a swap only or can folks bring plants to sell? Doesn't matter to me, just figured I'd ask rather than assume.

Looking forward to it!

Tim

Bass,

I'd love to attend! The 22nd might be a better date date since June 15th is Father's Day and I'm sure your kiddos probably have something special planned for you :-)

I'd be happy to bring some food over too- whatever you need.

Hi Bass
I would love to come, I agree fathers day would not be a good day for many of us

I love to come , see the fig friends again...June 22nd is the preferred day, My Brother wedding on the 14th, and do not know when I gonna go to sleep on the 15th.

Okay great, I will make a decision on a date, I'll have more details for everything else and contact Jon to add it to the pinned post.
I will probably have 20-25 limit. This will be held at my current house and not the new one. although it's a much bigger place, it's still under renovation.

Looks like you all had a great time.

Hope it's not too early to say count me in.
