Northeasters survive?

While thankful for the rain (they are already saying NJ is in a moderate drought), I wish it wouldn't come all at once with wind, like yesterday. No snow or hail here, at least.
Judging by the wheelbarrow, I think we had well over 2 inches. One casualty- a small potted olive, it may pull thru w TLC. Figs and everything else looking droopy and sad.
Anyone in PA? It looks like some areas got snow.

I'm further south then you, I didn't go over a look to close this morning, but every looked ok when I looked over on my way out to work.

Mercifully it seems the snow here in Pittsburgh will be limited to 1" or less. I covered all of my in-ground trees and I am hoping they make it without too much damage from the cold. I have a mystery tree that actually has 8-10 brebas on it. If I have to wait another year to ID it I'm going to send mother nature a nasty letter!

Bronx, NYC....cold, blustery drippy, and waterlogged!  Feels like March!!  Fig trees seem OK, but slow to sprout this year.... root-pruned three weeks ago.  Gas jets on to take dampness, and chill out of the air.

Where's the spring?  Global-Warming...my fat butt!...Just another scam.

Glad to hear you folks made out okay.

Bronxfigs, I grew up (til High School) on Bainbridge/198th, Our Lady of Refuge Elementary School, the old hood LOL

"Global warming" is reportedly responsible for crazy weather swings like this - hotter summers, colder winters, freak weather events at odd times of the years, crazy strings of tornado outbreaks, freak springtime ice storms along the great lakes, severe droughts followed by flooding, that kind of stuff.  If that kind of weather sounds familiar or you notice it's been increasingly more common lately, might be food for thought.

Don't care what anyone calls it, but last year in Atlanta we got almost 8" of snow in March or April, which is just ... weird, haven't had half that here in 15-20 years (worst I saw was the snowstorm around new years 2000 @ 3").  There was an ice storm year before that with something like 3" of ice on everything.  That crap wasn't happening 10 years ago, so I'm not sure what to think.

The winds have been driving me nuts, but I'm glad to see tonight's overnight temps are inching above 40ºF right now, I was afraid I was about to have another fig shuffle on the way.

Jason,
if there is a plague of locusts, I am really gona be worried

Grasshoppers...  I noticed baby grasshoppers all over (and I mean all over) the field yesterday.

Last year was one of the worst droughts on record in central Texas (well Texas and beyond).  We followed that up with the 2nd wettest Dec-Feb on record, and now the rain has stopped again.  Last weekend the prediction was for 1/2" of rain.  The weekend before that better than 3".  We didn't get any of it.

There was a story on BBC last week about a method to determine naturally occurring CO2 in the atmosphere from that caused by the consumption of fossil fuels.  Perhaps at some point it will help determine what is going on with the climate changes.

Lots of rain here in CT. Trees, grapevines and yard needed it bad so I am thankful it was not snow. I however forgot to bring in my wheelbarrow of potting soil so now I have lots of mud.

Ladies....Gentlemen.....Global-Warming, locusts, ice in Atlanta, grasshoppers....who gives a flyin' fig?

The world as we know it will end December 21, 2012... correct?

I remember in the 1970s, "scientists" warned that Global-Cooling was coming our way, and some predicted that a "new" Ice-Age was just around the corner.  Thirty years later, and it's Global Warming.  It's all a crock.
