Not sure what this pest is

Hello Everyone,

I have these small bugs living in my soil and I can't seem to identify them. I can't take a picture because they are so small, but I'm sure they are not fungus gnats. I don't think they are hurting my plant, since there's no signs of stress, but I'd like to get rid of them. They almost look like tiny weevils, it that helps.

I'm living in Hong Kong, so the climate is tropical in the summer and cool in the winter. Any help would be great!

Thanks!

Take a scoop of soil, including bugs to your garden center and see if they can identify.

if trees are not in stress i would still worry about it. trouble tend to show up when the tree is already dead.

Hi kevung,
Do the beats have wings ?
I would either cover the soil with a plastic cover until the beasts go away or put (pine) mulch over the dirt for the same purposes.
Is the tree in a pot ? if so, you could as well soak the pot in water for 30 minutes - that would take care of the larvaes possibly sleeping in the dirt .
If in pot, you could move the pot so that the dirt is more exposed to full sun - insects usually like wet and shaded places .
