Oh boy Grasa that looks like fun where did that root stock come from ?

Yes, with a right lighting behinde it  would project a terrifying shadow on the wall and the kids would be afraid to walk past it.

FrankenFig

Grasa,
Your experiments are out of this world. That fig stump is scary looking and facinating at the same time. Keep up the good work, and keep the pictures coming too.
                                                            Best Wishes and Good Luck,

Tony, I have a 22 y.o. fig tree that was ' stupidly pruned by at least 2 idiots, including myself- until I decided to find out why I was not getting as good of figs I did when I neglected it... by then, it had reached some monster 20 feet high... It is time to bring it to what it should be, so I have taken several airlayers and this one of the picture was  the left over of an airlayer above it, so I decided to root it in my cabinet... and whoola, it turned out amazing... and I get new cuttings, so I have to do something with them.. I know the root stock grows well - It is unknown (perhaps a brown turkey) the fig is huge and purplish - no pics of the ripe fruit yet.

Now, I am learning and trying to get the tree to be in shape because in the spring, I want to have new good producers grafted on the trunks that are wasted and not producing because of stupid pruning.  All new to me, but if these grafts make, then I can be more skilled when I graft the mother tree.

This picture is a huge airlayer I removed from said tree and I want to do like the Japanese do, in front of my rockery, but from now it is just in an old garbage can. I have 'tied' the 2 main branches to a bamboo, and it is laying horizontally now, out there in the weather.  I know this tree will handle the cold, that is why I could kick myself for neglecting it for so long.  This one will need some grafs to fill the areas where the good fruiting branches were removed...
