OFF TOPIC ---Butternut Squash

Anyone ever grow Butternut in pots?  Pumpkin?

Thx in advance

Danny ,
I have grown Butternut, Spaghetti, Acorn squash and Small Sugar Pkn's  In 5 Gallon buckets.

I grow them up my fence, Since they are all vining squash they climb the fence really well.

When they get about the size of my fist I put them into mesh bags and ziptie them to the fence for support .

Zucchini - a short internode variety. They grew fine, but like Cody, i used a sizeable pot.

I do all my gardening in 5 gallon pots. You can get 10 white unmarked buckets from Home Depot for $30 if you want plain looking pots without writing on them. My tomatoes will out-grow the pots unless heavily pruned but most everything else does just fine. I use one pot per cabbage plant or pepper plant, btw - you can't crowd stuff when it's in pots and watering is critical - but weeding's a breeze and stuff can be moved if the bunnies, etc. get to greedy.

This has been my favorite way of veggie gardening for the past couple of years. I use extra large composite type pots that are usually for sale in Costco . They are nice and wide on top to accomodate my tomato cages. Weeding really is a breeze.
