Off Topic. Colorado Shooting Success Story

Don't mean to clutter the board, but I think you will all put things in perspective after reading this post from my son on facebook:

So my wife and I go to church today, and we find out our babysitter's sister was one of the people shot at the Batman movie. Her name is Petra, she was shot in the face with buckshot spray from a shotgun, and hit in the arm twice. The buck shot went through her nose into her brain, through the brain, to the back of the skull and stopped there. She was rushed into brain surgery, which she had Friday. Before the surgery the doctors were telling the family that her injuries were going to be devastating at best. Turns out they removed the buckshot from the back of her head, and found that she had a birth defect in her brain that was filled with fluid. The buckshot entered the defect area, like a BB through a straw, and was guided through the brain, missing ALL the important stuff. Today she spoke, walked across the room and ate breakfast. Hmmm...birth defect in brain saves girls life. God is good. Evil will be evil, but God can work miracles even amongst evil.
Also if you are on twitter please tweet #readytobelieve?  to help us generate a media wave to help draw traffic to the site we've started to fund petras treatment. =) thank you.

Somehow I don't think I'll be so upset if I lose a cutting, don't find the acreage we want, have fungus gnats, or even if my new hairdresser makes a mess out of my hair today.

God is good!  I wish they all could have survived.

Wow! what a miracle! I Thank God for His miracles!

We had a terrible storm come through WV on 4/29/12 from Indiana, through Ohio, into WV, and on it went through 5 states, we had 688, 000 plus people affected without power or water in Record Heat, Some for up to 2 weeks. I Thank God it was only 6 days for me. On top of all that, I had a HUGE 125 year old Maple tree standing in my back yard, the powerful winds were blowing through the tree towards my house, I prayed to God, to save me, and my house from harm.
a second later, the wind shifted to the south, and blew the tree over, which missed my house by about 12" ! It would have destroyed my house, and killed me in it.
Further blessings from it is that my home owners insurance will now replace 2 fences, I couldn't afford to replace, and the root system from the tree left a huge 5 foot deep by 12 foot round hole I can now turn into a fish pond, that I won't have to dig myself!
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God,
to them who are the called according to his purpose."  Romans 8:28

Thanks for sharing that Susi! It sure makes me thankful!
And Glad to serve a living, miraculous God.
I've already passed along your post to others that would appreciate it also!

That is an incredible story Suzi, thanks for sharing. It does put things into perspective.

God is Great!!!
Glad she will make it.

Glad to hear some salvaged good news about the sad event.

But what is wrong with this loony-toon character
that made him cause so much mayhem and grief...

I also posted this on my wine forum site, and a member there looked Petra up, and said:

I found the news article

and the donation site

Petra is an amazing person with so much potential!  We did contribute, and there are sites to contribute to the medical bills of so many victims of this tragedy.  This one meant something to me because she is the sister of my son's babysitter, and we don't all have $$$ to contribute to them all, but every little bit helps.  I was amazed that in the time it took for an online credit card contribution, the fund has grown!

My son texted me and said Petra is out of ICU, but in a lot of pain and is very nauseous.  If you can't contribute, just pray for her, and keep it up!  I'll keep you posted for sure!

Suzi

she's got my prayers!
