Off Topic - my pet bird passed

I came home tonight to find my little Dino, my little monster-dinosaur has passed away.  I don't know why.  He was 4 and about 4 months, we had him 4 years 1 month.

Every night when I came home I could here him squawking because he would here the garage door,  He was such a little brat, but I loved him.  He wouldn't let me scratch his head or anywhere else, although he would let Glenn.  He didn't want me to touch him, but he wanted to be on me if I was home - well most of the time lol.  He loved to wolf whistle with me and we recently made a game of it.   I was planning to take him to get his nails done this weekend and we were going to take a shower together - I haven't done that with him in a while since my schedule has make it difficult for the little extra activities.  He loved chick peas, pasta, and scrambled eggs - I would put all kinds of goodies in his eggs - I made them different each time and he loved them no matter what I put in them!  We shared yogurt, he didn't like cheerios, he liked collard greens and wheat grass but didn't like kale.

The house is going to be so quiet with him gone - it's amazing how 82gr can fill up a house and boy did he!

Sorry to hear that.  R.I.P.

Sorry for your loss JoAnn. r.i.p. Dino.

So sorry to hear that, JoAnn. Our pets make up such a big part of our day to day life. They leave a big hole when they are gone.

Im so sorry to hear the news Jo-Ann thats sad I couldnt imagine losing my dogs I would be crushed I hope you guys are ok.

JoAnn...

Sad to read that your beautiful bird passed away.  Our pets bring so much love and joy to our lives and ask for only love and care in return. I have a pet dog, and my eyes fill with tears when I think that one day he will not be in my life.

I hope that you find peace.

Best regards,

Frank

So sorry.  I totally agree on how they can fill a home with sound.

so sorry to hear about dino. he looked like an awesome guy.

JoAnn,
So sorry to hear about the loss of your bird Dino.  Folks who don't own pets have no idea of the heartbreak of loosing a treasured pet.  I have lost two of my dogs over the years and I was devastated for weeks.  Only time will make it less painful.

Sorry for your loss...

JoAnn,

These little guys have a lot of personality and can impose their will on you unequivocally. They carve out big places in your heart and leave big holes when they are gone. Hope you find another to fill the void.

Very sorry to hear, JoAnn.  I hope the pain passes quickly.

Sorry to hear of your loss, unfortunately tropical birds can get sick and succumb very quickly.

Sorry of your loss, pets are a bond for any family that has one.

Sorry to hear that Joann, I breed cockatiels and lost one of my best females this past summer, she became egg bound while I wasn't home and passed away. Best thing for me was to give it some time and get a new one.

Sorry to hear about that Joann. Pets are just like a member of the family. When one dies it's just like when a human member passes.

Sorry for your loss. It always hurts when we lose the littlest members of the family. I'd miss my obnoxious fig-eating cat if he suddenly went.

Sorry for you loss cockatiels are awesome birds. I had two that lived to be 10 and 12 very smart birds. R.I.P. Dino

Sorry for your loss, sorry he died so young. My bird is 19 and its hard to think of a time when he would be gone, Rex.

I'm so sorry to hear that. A pet dying is just as sad as a person dying sometimes.

Very sad for you Jo-Ann.  4 years is enough time to get really attached!  I'm sure he went to birdie heaven!

Sorry about your bird.  Animals are very endearing.

As a fellow bird lover I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Birds can be truly fantastic pets. I have had the privilege of knowing a number of birds and they can be quite loving. I hope your grief is short lived.

Thank you everyone - he was such a spoiled little brat, but he was mine;)

Today was difficult - crying at work just thinking about it.  I was going to have a necropsy done, but after talking with the S.O. I figured out what happened.

The house was very dry and his sinuses hurt.   He wasn't able to bend down to get a pot out of the cabinet, so he used a 12" skillet I like to cook in - it is - was- teflon.  When I cook I am so careful with it, I never thought he would use it, but he did to heat some water for the humidity.  He just have fallen asleep with the heat on and poor little Dino breathed in those toxic chemicals - did I know better then to have the pan?  Yes I did.  I was too stubborn and too cheap to get a different pan to cook with and Dino paid the price for my carelessness.  I am so sorry - I can't undo this. I don't blame S.O. - he is disabled and on a bunch of RX's - it was my responsibility to keep everyone else safe - they can't themselves.  :(
