Another vote of confidence for mgwillis55 (forum ID is eatmoreyeah). He has photos of lots of his trees and figs to confirm he has the varieties that he sells cuttings from posted to the forum (including the St. Rita cuttings I purchased). Good guy.

Regards,
billy

justfigs was mentioned by larryl, and I can second that opinion. I picked up some RdB and CdDG cuttings from him in Sept and they arrived in fantastic shape and are rooting successfully.

Has anybody bought LSU Purple from Sheila's Tropicals in Fruit Cove, Florida? They sell on Etsy and on their own website. LSU Purple is the only fig they sell, the rest are citrus and other tropicals.

Hello
This looks like the correct topic to add my new endeavour;

Recently I have retired to organic figs and fruit farming. Now selling fig cuttings and trees to help cover my farming expenses.
Anyone that has a farm knows farm expenses can be like a sink hole so don’t want the farm to consume my limited pension. Will be selling to Canada fig cuttings and some fig nursery trees shipped dormant and bareroot in winter leafed out in 1 gal pots locally in summer.

Only sell proven figs that have produced figs for me (unless noted otherwise) and that I have documented with photos. So client always knows what the fig cultivar they order looks like, description and with my grow notes and recommendations.

My farm is located in Vineland/Niagara, Canada’s tender fruit belt and is surrounded by orchards and vineyards.

Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.

Thanks and Merry Christmas

I looked at your fignuts.ca website earlier this week. You have a lot of cuttings for reasonable prices, a lot of very nice varieties! I hope that your endeavor works well for you.

Pino, you have been an active member of this forum for a long time in fig years and I have enjoyed reading your comments, interactions and contributions since I joined. if I were able to buy from a Canadian source, I would not hesitate to take advantage of your growing expertise and cultivar availability as well as reasonable pricing... Hopefully, in the future, things will change and US based buyers will be able to freely transact with our neighbors to the north and south...

Tsparozi. You should read his comment again. He lives near the plant inspection station for his area, this means you can pay for phytosanitary permits for your trees and cuttings and legally import them into the us.

@devlsgro ... That did not escape me however I was under the impression that the phytosanitary permit is just the first piece of the requirement and that there would need to be an up to a year long period of post entry quarantine (usually at the purchasers expense) for importer material.

I wasn't aware of any post entry quarantine, I was under the impression they inspected and that was it. Nurseries import and sell right?

It's really great that you offer the service Joe, I have been meaning to ask you for some time the general cost of the permit. As I understand it you get one permit for the whole import not per plant?

If I understand correctly, first you need to get a permit to bring plants here, on base of this permit Canada will issue a certificate..
But may be, now rules changed?

Yes, it was confirmed on the OurFigs forum that for Canada you need 1 - an import permit from the USDA 2 - a phyto sanitary certificate issued for the seller from the Canadian Authorities. It was also confirm that for Canada imports at least, the quarantine period was not applicable. Quarantine, however, is applicable for other countries as specified by the USDA...

With regard to Dave as a eBay Good Guy Seller under the Willys-a-gas name, I absolutely second the nomination. I have had numerous dealing with Dave and he is a top notch forum member of both forums, a top notch ebay seller dealing only with fresh, excellent quality cuttings and plants, packages them up beautifully and gets them shipped out immediately. he is on my list of best sellers....

Sorry, Dave... didn't mean to smoke you but folks shouldn't miss out on the excellent cuttings you have out on eBay right now.... even if it means my getting outbid on  items....  :-)

@Devin - a phyto. cert is per shipment.   I am not aware of any quarantine requirement for USA from Canada.   Again I can only see going through all this work for very large orders.

@Olya, I think you hit the nail on the head!

Lol... no problem, Lou.... Considering how much fig wood you share gratis with members and the care you put into packaging and shipping, I wouldn't hesitate to  bid on anything you posted on eBay, feeling confident that I would be getting your best. Matter of fact, as an example, your Kure Beach cuttings are prime and well worth the small price. That variety leaps out of rootings cups; I put in 4 cuttings a number of weeks ago and now have 4 12-15" plants that keeping lifting the bin cover and saying "Feed Me!!!"...
