One spot for a tree...what should it be

Got a south facing spot right next to the house for an in-ground tree. I am thinking of putting a dark fig in ground, what would be the members preference. I currently have MarseilliesVS, Gino, Negronne(VdB), Sal's EL and Ronde de Bordeaux growing in pots. This spot will likely be enclosed like a sun room in the near future.

What's in YER climate?  what zone at least?

How about plant the VdB and graft cuttings of the others to it. Best of all worlds.

How about putting the ficazzana in the ground and grafting all your dark favorites on it, leave at least one branch for the ficazzana figs. The ficazzana is a strong grower and will establish quickly. You can keep the dark plants in the pots as well for backup, just need a cutting to graft.

If it were me it would be the Ronde de Bordeaux once its old enough.

rcantor  -  it should be micro climate next to the house like about 2 ft away. My plan is to put a roof over plant. Plan is to have spot converted into lean to greenhouse cum sun room.

Ben/Navillus - good idea to have graft. By the way Ben, likely Ficazzana will get a spot as the place is over 20 ft long. I can let it grow in pot & let the roots come out to feed. I like Ficazzana's productivity. Hopefully it taste good. Any up-dates on your Ficazzana ? Last time I saw the pic, it was a WOW.

Martin - I am leaning towards RdB but not sure of its productivity. My Negronne has good productivity. My RdB in pot is about 3ft and the other in-ground one is
about 30ft away from house. It was top killed last season but re-sprouted to about a foot. Has about 2ft of leaves for protection since last Dec. Will uncover by late April.
