Open to exchange cuttings?

I don't know if this has been posted before.  I am looking to  trade cuttings with other fig enthusiast.  I am looking for varieties that I do not have.   The varieties that I currently have are the brown turkey, the  Texas ever bearing, and a unknown variety that I was told may have come from India 40 to 50 years ago.   The  fruit is about 1 inch diameter and about  2.5 inches long.  The flesh is yellow and  extremely sweet when fully ripe.    The skin is yellow to brown in appearance.   This variety is extremely fast growing, It grew from a cutting to a 6' tree with a 2' trunk in about a year and a half.   ;) The  items on my want list are the  Black Madeira, Mission or the Kadota  but would be open  to any self pollinating variety with good taste.

Why don't you introduce yourself first?. Instead of coming to the forum asking for things.

The name is Brian.

 What's the protocol?

Greetings Brian,
Normally people read the info at the beginning about getting started on the forum. Then write an into letting us know about you and your interests. You can get a lot of info here and meet a lot of nice people. We are something of a community, hoping to help one another.
Be welcome.

Read the Forum, Study it, and introduce yourself when you know a little more. Don't worry about anything, we all started here...

Welcome!  We all love to trade!  Tell us about yourself - where you live, how you got started in figs, whatever else you want to mention.

I am from the SoCal, the other coast :)

Brian,
In this fig mad hobby business having a paypal account is quite handy for small payments like for s&h

common figs do not self pollinate. the seeds are infertile. welcome to the forum.

we had few bad apples in the forum who came in asking for cutting and then run. even worse, taking the cutting and putting on the ebay, or worst use forum name to sell wrongly named figs to people. so some of the forum members are not too happy about folks dropping in just asking to buy, sell, trade and gone in few months.. weeks.. days.

but if you stick around and participate, members here are awesome :)

edit: seeds are not infertile. they just do not self pollinate. if common figs are grown where there are fig wasps, they can be pollinated and produce superior figs.

Thanks for the information Pete.  After I got the first response I was caught a little off guard.   I was not looking asking for anything just looking to trade varieties with  other enthusiast which I thought was win/win a the way around.  I can see I have a lot to  learn.

Thanks again.

Brian

ps  see you from Durham as well.  Are there others from our location?

Welcome to the forum, Brian.  In Jan/Feb time frame, Jon will be offering cuttings from the foundation.  It's a great time to get new varieties. Jon will post when it's time.

I'm not too far away in Fort Mill, SC...
