options on a sucker.

i have a sucker on Kathleen's Black (KB) that i'm trying to figure a way to send it out for a trade.

here is the problem. this sucker has been on the pot for last 1.5 yrs. it's now 5 feet tall. cutting it from the parent tree and sending it out would be an option, but that would cost arms and legs on shipping.

what would be the best option? do an air layer in the middle and send out the top? or dig it out and cut the top off and hope that the bottom will put out some leaves?

doing an air layer will make better looking tree, i think. weather's been nice here so i think a month or two will give nice roots.

Or send the bottom portion that is already rooted, and take some cutting off the top for rooting.

I second Jon's idea. You can remove that sucker and trim it back for shipping. Then the trimmings can be rooted as well.
