I am no expert on these Richie but my supposed O'Rourke has leaves with more lobes, most are 5 lobed.  I had heard that was one way to tell.

I looked on a lsu page and they showed orourke have 5 and 7 lobed leaves

It's not O'Rourke. Here is the photo of O'Rourke's leaves and fruit.

I think Richie's pics look like Improved Celeste.  IC's often have a good number of 1-lobed leaves, but I think I've read that the richness of the soil can influence the number of lobes (more fertilizer = more lobes?).  My purported IC trees have more 3-lobed leaves than 1-lobed leaves (maybe a 70/30 split?), and their 3-lobed leaves look like those in Richie's pics.

My purported O'Rourke looks like what Navid posted.

Thanks. I was defending my orourke in past post saying they are the same. I have been schooed. Lol.
Well my Improved celeste is wonderful anyway. Lol

It looks like IC to me too, but how old is the tree? It may change with age if it's 3yrs or less old.
I have a tree that is tagged "Smith(Not)/Verte(?)/Maybe Smith" it's 4 yrs here and the first year I was incompetent and didn't know any better, the 2nd year I started to have suspicions and was convinced it was definitely not a Smith, 3rd year I deduced it most likely a Verte, and now after last year I'm starting to think maybe it is a Smith after all. It took 4 years for it to put out the "type" of leaves and fruit it was supposed to be growing all along.

You're a good member Richie, you take "schooling" very well, I wish the rest of us were as humble as you. You have a lot of respect from all of us F4F members.

Why thank you. I think of myself as a hard head.! Glad to have so many people to talk figs with. My family get board to quickly with figs. But then they eat all of my figs !!!!

Richie fig is Improved Celeste(O rourke not).
Richie:
I can tell you my experience with ,both cultivars in Question.
-I have Improved Celeste ORN,in my garden and it does produce early good fruits, every year.
-I had O"Rourke Celeste, from Navid , post#4,above ,got it in trade for Col de Dame:
After 5 years ,growing it,it dropped all fruits starting ,second year.
Now it went to fig Heaven last October, out of frustration, discarded it.
My climate is difficult especially for Celeste.
All regular Celeste drop fruits before ripe here and so it did O'Rourke.
So Richie, be Happy you got a Better Improved Celeste

Yes i am. I was so pleased with it last year. Has very nice looking fruit. Skin is thin & pulp has good thick flavor. Just thought it was,a orourke. I didnt keep any cuttings of o'Rorke from the last feild day because i thought i had it already. Dr johnson let all of us attack those trees. It was a sight to see. Thanks for your input on my Improved celeste

vasile,

Never get a col de dama from you. Trade was for a Nero 600 and it died (told you why in an email years ago). O'Rourke has never dropped fruits in my climate. Improved Celeste that I had from Edible Landscaping, did drop all the time and it was discarded 6-7 years ago. O'Rourke is one of the only few figs that does not drop, so don't know why it dropped its fruits in your climate.

Navid.

OK Navid:You are right,it could have been Nero 600 M,I am not going to argue it,but, the O'Rourke in question was from you because i recognized the leaves, from your pix.
It dropped every each fruit and it was making a few 2 years ago ,and a lots of fruits in 2015,yet it dropped all of them.
It is the climate,in fact every Celeste i grew dropped fruits here, except this Improved Celete O 'Rourke not ,that i got from George M,in north Jersey.

No problem Vasile. Only a few (3-4 variants) figs don't drop with execessive rain and etc here, and O'Rourke is one of those few. Maybe I can grow your IC and see how it does here.

Navid.

Navid:I do not have cuttings of I C ORN ,nor plant made.but if you send me an Email, next Fall (Oct),I will send you cuttings ,because the tree is alive at about 20 inches from ground level this year.
We had another cold Jan,this year so my trees lost about half the wood it started ,with in the Fall despite Winter protection.

I will be able to share cuttings of my tree from this post navid my tree is about 7 foot tall as of right now. It is,a improved celeste. Nice fat trunk but only one side branch. Probably needs to be forced to branch out
