Osborne Prolific performs well in cool weather

My in-ground figs are ripening, here's Osborne Prolific harvested yesterday. The highs last week have been in the mid 60s and rained for a few days (first storm of the season). The tree is in its second year. Taste: quite sweet especially considering the weather, but not as jam-like as some Zidi or Panachee I've had. Definitely a keeper.

Nice looking fig.
Would like to add I have also read that Osborne Prolific
Also grows well in shady areas .
Enjoy your tree and it's Figs.

Hello Daniel,
My Osborne figs are also ripening for two weeks now on my second year tree in ground. There are about 20 figs on the 3 foot little tree. I was more than skeptical to see any main fig to mature here, so I'm pleased to see I was wrong!!
Ronde de Bordeaux is also maturing all its figs.
You should try Grise de St Jean, the figs are also maturing now. The taste is better, a good performance on my one year in ground tree! The breba are supposed to be still better than main crop!! and abundant too.
I have a Goute d'or in ground for 2 years and main figs are not at all ready yet, I think it needs more heat that my climate can provide.
The spring here was very warm and I still have to see if my trees would perform aswell in a normal spring.

Actually my Osborne Prolific has morning shade. This year it was definitely earlier than last year, when it managed to ripen 2 figs in mid-November.

It is a productive tree. My tree is about 7ft tall, multi branch and has hundreds of figs. Not all the main crop figs will ripen at this time of the season. I am happy to get over 20 figs to ripen and they still taste good in this cooler weather.

Hey guys, how did your OP produce last year?
thanks

Bump!
