osborne's prolific

has anyone got an osborne's prolific that they're getting good figs from?  i have a little one i got from james robin but it's still a baby.

if you've got one, how is the flavor of the fig?

Mike, I've got a young one myself. Mine came from John McMillian at Almost Eden. When I received it last June it was less than a year old and about 1 foot tall. It had a fig on it that grew quite large looking like it would ripen but it didn't. It's growing well this year but no signs of figs yet. Sorry I couldn't help with the taste test. I like you will have to wait.
"gene"

I have a tree and I like the figs. On tree ripen sweetness brix test in Hawaii by Ken Love, it is rated among the highest at 25  -- even higher than LSU Gold, Excel, Black Ischia and equal Flanders. It is a reliable variant here in B.Columbia where I can count on to give me the figs. Hence it got a spot in the ground.

Ive had problems with it.  Both my plants died.  I had one start from a cutting last year and it was doing well and then all of the sudden-dead.
I received a plant from JKS out east and I killed that too.

Seems sensitive to me...

Anyway, good luck!

mine seems to be doing well, it's sure growing prolifically.  the question, of course, is whether i'll get any decent figs off it.
