I have a santa barbara peach and a blenheim apricot. I was clueless when i planted them 5 years ago about chill requirements. They require about 300 hrs each, and we have been averaging about 100 hrs each winter in my area.  So no prize for me thus far. But i have been doing my research and eva pride stood out due to its 150 chill hr requirement and due to its dave wilson constant taste award. I think you've pushed me to get the Eva pride now. looks delicious!

Nick I get more chill hours here.  Usually in the 300 - 500 range depending on the winter.  Give Eva's Pride a chance .  It's a great tree and you just might be ok with the chill hours.

Nice peaches!  The damaged one you cut looked more like squirrel/rat damage to me. I have squirrels, rats, birds damaging my peaches and the birds leave cleaner marks from their beaks than the other guys. I cut and eat the damaged fruit as well why let it go to waste....

Looking at your video, I just realized that I should've kept my peach tree. I took it out the second season when it did not fruit for me and replaced it with a fig tree. LOL

Funny to see you eat peaches when mine are still pea sized. Here the earlier peaches are ripe by the 15th of July and some do ripen in October.
Funny to hear you say that your main problem is chill hours when mine is those damn last freezes that cull down the flowers and tiny fruits. Even killing them all.
I see that your peach tree seems trouble free. Here they get lots of fungal diseases/problems. I have 3 with no fruits for the second year in a row ... That does not bode well for them.

As for the birds, since you have created a honey pot ... There is no solution .
You probably should keep your trees smaller with less fruits. You should only leave twice the fruits that you're planning to use.
Leaving fruits not fetched will always draw lots of critters. The problem then they eventually no longer feed elsewhere but in your yard... Leaving no fruit for you.
But ok, that's a personal choice. I myself can allow them some fruits, but I won't let crops stay in the garden to attract them and feed them.

Thanks ohjustaguy! I'm pretty sure its birds doing the damage but I'll keep my eyes peeled for signs of other critters.

A peach tree is nice to have. The store bought peaches don't compare.

Thanks jdsfrance! Yeah it is a honey pot for them. I live in a neighborhood with large established trees. In this area thats pretty rare so birds seem to come from all over to roost in the trees around here at night. And in the day they mess with the fruit in my yard.
