OT - anyone with sweet cherry cuttings?

I have a 4-1 cherry from Dave Wilson that the deer truly loved last year.  The netting came off and the f#$(ing animals decimated the tree.

I believe the rootstock is still alive, but the grafts have all been eaten.

Anyone with cherry cuttings that I can graft?  Obviously I'm willing to pay for shipping.  I'm in Central New Jersey - types which grow well here (as opposed to CA/WA for example) are most welcome.  But I will try anything.

Where in central NJ are you? You can PM me if you do not want to put your town down here.

I live in zone 6 illinois and have a cherry tree. Its a sweet but tart piee cherry. I enjoy them fresh, in preserves, cobblers and even wine. I will look at my tags to get the exact name if you are wanting to know more.

Mmm...fresh cherry pie.

Same problem with the deer here! I planted two cherries last spring which they helped themselves to snacking on each branch until they were nubs. Then in the fall I had a huge scrape on the side of one!

Christy, I'm in Mercer County (Princeton Junction).

I'm slightly less interested in tart cherries (not sure they work on the same rootstock) given that the kids are the huge fruit eaters (other than the deer).  I can always give it a try and should I (hah!) succeed and don't want it, either the deer or a saw can take care of it.

Bass use to sell some Cornus Mas,  aka Cornelian cherry.  I got 2 from him last year.  He might have some more.  Right now, mine are in bloom.  I had to bring them inside to keep the blooms from freezing.

We have lots of cherry trees up here Hedelfingen and various Bing cherries are popular.

Andrew,

What cultivars were on your tree? I was thinking that if mine are still under patent I would be violating the patent law by sharing scion.

Anyone know how this works?

Obviously I had the tasty varieties.  Not really sure -Lapins and 3 other kinds; I'd have to check the tree labels and it's just too cold out right now.

@milehighgirl - we won't tell anyone! :>)
