Haven't had many figs this summer but we have had a bumper crop of beach plums. They make great jelly so my son and I spent the afternoon cooking up a small batch. The first jar is made from all colors of beach plums. The other two jars are made from just orange beach plums. The strainer shows the different colors of beach plums you can find

Very interesting, never heard of a beach plum. I guess its growing zone stops at Maryland.

Nice, are you picking wild ones or growing them?

I picked them from a local community's landscaping. They were planted along a trail to help stabilize the soil. Because beach plums are salt and wind tolerant they do very well along our coast. The trail is along a cove off of the Atlantic Ocean. The bushes were planted 12 years ago. Most of them are doing well.
