Oh, that's fascinating. Rails are very shy marsh birds, so spotting one -- even a common native -- is a treat!

I used to tease my aunt about her Tory Peterson books, Field Guide and binoculars.  Now I have at least 6 bird books, and check-off list of my own.   It's a nice interest to have.  I'm happy she introduced me to it.

It's a little confusing to me that people would spend that kind of money to perhaps see something once. Breaks every tightwad bone in my body. Pete, did you mean to say can or can't?

Wow, to each his own, I see lots of rails here in South La, maybe not a roufus-necked wood rail but they look very similar. I'm not a serious bird watcher so I can't really relate but it must have been exciting for those bird watchers who got to see it.

i can see how people can spend money on things that they believe is important to them. i mean, i won't buy cloth on full price or i'll refuse to go see a movie until they are out on rental.. but i'm willing to spend good money on good beer, food, book, music and other things. i'll try to find the best price on everything tho.. i used to be different before the kids.. but now.. all my money goes to kids and the dogs.
