OT Dragon Fruit

Nullzero,
Please update the thread when you get them, it's hard to know, I can't find anything on the internet to verify one way or the other. Looks like we're getting in on the ground floor of growing this here. All I'm finding is opinion not proven fact.

Looks like Jimi  (Voodoo Chile and Purple Haze) but maybe the Grateful Dead too (American Beauty, Dark Star).

Tami, I sent some seeds to a member in Texas... not sure if he's growing them (He can speak up if yes).  I'm not sure which variety they were.

Looks great, Tami!  I've been growing DF's for about a year, now.  I don't know the specific varieties, but I have white, red, and purple (at least, that's what I'm supposed to have!).  I have four growing up each side of a 6' tall 4x4 post with remesh spread across the top.   Three of the four have recently made it to the top of the trellis, and two of those have already been cut so they start branching out.  The third I'm going to let grow a couple more inches before I cut it back.  They're fun plants to grow - I can't wait until my trellis gets full! :)

Figaro,
I'm a little concerned, you've been growing for over a year and they just now reached the top of the trellis? I'm gonna have a long wait if that's the case. I was told they grow much faster. Darn it!

They do grow very quick.  I grew mine from cuttings I purchased about 10-11 months ago.  So, in just under a year, the cuttings have rooted and grown about 6'.  I'm hoping to get some fruit this year around October, or so, but it may not be until next year.

If you get fruit will you please post pictures?
I have my trellises at 4' above soil level. I was told that is the minimum and when they start falling over after reaching the top, those are the branches that will fruit. Also better just in case I have to cart them into the garage.

It makes me so happy to find others on this forum growing these.
