Nice! Mine are just starting to bud, I don't even have a single leaf yet!

Figs , mulberries, blackberries , and now enticed for blueberries hmm.
Stop it already. lol

martin.. i know just what you mean.. tho, it beats going to the sam's clue and going over 20 different package to find good fruits. come on.. blueberry isn't so hard providing you have good water. if kept in container, just need good water.

Blueboy,

Normally you are right on schedule with me but this year you are way behind, I wonder why?  30 pounds or so picked already and the first sweetcrisps are just ripening now.

We had a really cold winter. Last I checked we registered 800 chill hours, thats 3x what we had last year! Thats got to do something with it. Plus I moved my plants from full sun all day to the side of a new house and didnt have full sun on all the plants untill a month ago.

That would do it.  We had a real mild winter, a bit less than 300 chill hours.

Holy Moly, WillsC!
30lbs already?!
Mine ripen from end of June to end of July.
Do you pick them by hand?
I pick mine by hand, every other day, for two hours.
It's pretty time consuming.

This was the coldest I can remeber in awhile! Suppost to get down to 42 here tomorrow night. Still racking up the chill hours! JK, I dont think it matters once they break buds. Got all my bird netting up last week just in time. Ive been trying to knock down as many birds as I can with the pellet gun but there are just way to many around here. You know the ones, grey and white and sing pretty songs all day, not mentioning any names!

Ruuting,

Yep by hand, me myself and I.   My commercial friend has been picking his 13 acres for about 3 weeks now...but they use Dormex which makes them ripen earlier and migrant pickers.  I don't use Dormex as for me later is better.  In the peak I am picking for 3 hours or so every day but it does not last long.  About 700-800 lbs or so this year I would guess.  May sound like a lot but 200 mature bushes will be about 1500 pounds or so.  About half my bushes are still young so don't produce as much and I have 50 sweetcrisps which are the best tasting berries by far but the bushes on'y produce a medium number of flower buds.

BB,

Bought me a new toy this year.a Benjamin Marauder  PCP in .22......40 yards 10 shots in a dime size hole and the thing is almost silent.

Nice, is that a Pump or spring loaded? Maybe Benjamin caught up with times. The springloaded pellet guns are that accurate but alittle loud. I look pretty funny out there in the mornings with my mud boots, camo hat and pellet gun in my underwear. Neighbors think Im nuts!!!!!

The Marauder is neither....it is a PCP=pre charged pneumatic.  It gets pumped up to 3000 psi and you fire till it gets down to 2500 psi or so then pump it back up.  The pump looks like a bicycle tire pump but is a high pressure pump.....or you can fill it off a scuba tank.  Rifle has a 10 shot magazine.  They come in .177 .22 and .25 calibers.

I use subsonic .22 LR, about as loud as those cap guns we played with as kids.

Yep my favorites are the CCI quiets but it is very very hard to find them these days.

I believe those are called CB shorts? Ive been shoting those since I was a kid and they got plenty knock down power for around the house. I shot the coons and other varmints with the CB shorts. Wait, do CB's shoot out of a 22 LR or not?

Bam, I will have to check those out. My Bro and Law got me a spring loaded for xmas but its 177 and I really wanted a 22. cal.

Rui, your cuttings are rooting strong! Thanks again;)

BB,

The shorts are, well short, the brass is shorter.  Bad part is they won't feed out of a magazine of a bolt action.  The CCI quiets have basically just a hot primer charge so they are quiet and being full size long rifle cases they feed easily.  They are accurate also just hard to find.  All .22 are tough to get now but those more so.

Like DRP said the subsonics are quiet, much quieter than a CB short.  About as loud as a cap gun.  The Marauder is MUCH quieter than the quiets lol.....you basically just hear the hammer fall....from 50 feet away you would not even hear it.

Blueberries are so fun to grow. I already have several varieties, but could not resist A $1.99 for a year old little plant at Grocery Outlet. Jubilee - one that I did not have!.  Love them.

hi  grasa hope your doing well

Hi Noss, yes I have a sunshine blue and its one of my favorites. Its the latest ripening Southern High Bush I grow and I need a few more for that late season harvest. Most of my plants are mid season. I had some Rabbiteyes at my last house and they were nice as they fruited after all my SHB but for my taste the eating quality isnt up to par with the better SHB.

It might be hard to find these days, but the box regardless of manufacturer will say 'subsonic.' Still 22LR. You might be thinking of Colibri who makes primer only. Subsonic is right around 1000 fps so still very effective. If you go to ammoseeek.com and look for 22 subsonic I am sure someone has it. Outrageously priced I am sure.

Here is my first - Sweetcrip.  My Sweetcrisps are big this year - not quite quarter size, but bigger than a nickel.
