OT... I would like to thank Jon and the forum members.

Pete, sorry to see you go. Wish you would reconsider.

Stay in touch Pete by email and PM.

Thanks Alan. You did the right thing.

Happy Holidays to you Pete!  While you take a break, I will use the time to learn from you through the old threads.  Come Spring, I hope to learn more stuff from you!

This topic was started to inform the forum community of my absence, not to elicit response from members, but thanks for your support and kind words.

I'm under no delusion that my respite will create any changes, its just been my personal code when it comes to discourteous behavior, I don't abide with it in real life and I refuse to abide with it in this virtual reality.

I sincerely believe that 99.9% (+/- 0.5% error) of members are here to share and foster a communal forum environment, that's why I will resume posting in the spring.

Thank you.

Happy holidays Pete. Come back when you are refreshed and ready. In the meantime, I'll make do with your posts as reference.

Norhayati

We understand, just get a good rest from the forum, you do not deserve to be mistreated and we will be looking forward to your return this spring.

Pete,
Well, I hate to see you go, even just for the winter.  But I can see how a break can be in order...things have gotten a bit odd here lately.  Please remember to come back!  (If you decide not to, please please please don't delete your account and all the wonderful threads you've started.)  Hopefully you'll check PMs from time to time, even if you don't read the forum posts.
Cheers,
Jim

Happy holidays!

I am very glad to hear that you are not leaving, just taking a break.  You are one whose advice this newbie takes seriously.  Thanks for all that you contribute here, Pete.

Pete

There are several people who would like to remain in touch with you, is your pm active?

Rafael,
I will be on "vacation" from the forum for the Winter, so I've disabled my PM. I'll be back in the Spring.
Again thanks.

Pete
Enjoy your short winter break in peace and do come at your earliest convenience.
Your short, to the point and objective post will be missed.

I understand the disgust that some posts cause but I have somewhat hard time understanding good people leaving the forum and leaving behind the 99.?? good ones, many of them their good friends.

I was thinking there could be a "good way" of calling and asking the other friends who left the forum to reconsider rejoining their old friends at this Forum at this time of forgiving. This will also help break the momentum of giving up good friends due to a minority with irritating behaviour.

The discussion on this situation in the GW Forum has some very good post suggesting to ignore such people rather than leaving because of them :  http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/fig/msg081639275818.html?67

There are many good posts such as this one by Dennis

Best wishes for the season to all in both Forums

I would again like to thank Jon Verdick and all the Forum Members that have made my membership memorable and enjoyable over the past few years. I had planned on returning to participation as a member, in active discourse about figs and Fig Culture in the spring.

But due to my personal opinion that there is an increasing lack of simple courtesy and at least some basic authoritative moderation for the forum community, I have terminated my membership.

Wishing all, Happy Gardening

Sincerely,
Pete S.

Pete, you were one of the most constructive and helpful members on this forum!  When I think of all the practical information I have obtained here I think I am putting into practice more information from you than any other member.  Of course, I wish that you would change your mind and come back but if that is not going to happen will you be participating in any other forums?  I can be reached at sfn0528atyahoodotcom (with the appropriate icons substituted for the "at" and "dot").

Sorry to hear this Pete.
Be well.
Best ,
Kerry

Pete hope to see you at the Fig Parties this year, all the best to you.

Pete

Thank you for all your valuable contributions. Your unfailing politeness is also exemplary. I am sure your grandmother would be proud. I will miss you.

Will definitely miss your informative posts:(.
Best to you in your fig growing!

I am really sorry to hear that. I learned so much from your posts. Be well..

Pete
I agree with our friends Donna and Rafael. I sincerely hope we will meet up at one of our Fig Fests
Take care my friend

Pete,
This saddens me to no end.  I did not know you well, but I could tell the type of person you were and appreciated all that you did.

This is a HUGE loss to the forum, in both some very obvious ways and in some intangible ways that folks may not grasp.  In refusing to associate with a certain type of people, losing Pete tips the scales in the wrong direction.

This is just a huge, huge shame...
Jim

Sorry to see Pete going.  Can't add to any of the above sentiments.

It's a real shame.

Frank

I too am sorry you have left. Even though I joined after your hiatus in Dec, I have learned very much from your posts. Thank you for your time and energy for the good of the forum. I agree with you that this forum should have "some basic authoritative moderation for the forum".

Hope you have great figging season.

Sorry to hear your final decision to leave the forum, we will miss your comments and informative guidance.
