OT - ID needed for 2 headed bug

This bright little fellow was eye balling my figs.
I relocated him but wonder if anyone recognizes the bug?
Thanks

LOL!
How about 2 bugs breeding?

Doug

Thanks Doug!
I see now they are locked in love.
Do you know what they are?

I looked on line for you.
Can not match up yet.
Hopefully others know the type of beetle.

Thanks Peter you got it!

A large milkweed bug (aka Oncopeltus fasciatus).  They live on milkweed seeds.
Makes sense since I have a patch of milkweed to attract monarchs so these bugs share the milkweed.
This year I haven't seen any monarchs yet.  Last year only saw a few.

Holy cow you have a million of them.  I only got the 2.
They are supposed to eat only milkweed seeds.  Did they actually damage the figs?
If so could have found a taste for un caprified fig seeds?

No no that's not me if that were my trees I would hire a cropduster to spray

Dave, that's wild!

Mating milkweed bugs.
