Pete,

If you really truly are bored how about a round of "Redneck" golfing?

rafed,

never played it before.. is that like getting a tater gun and shooting neighbor's windows out? that i done that before down at my friend's college dorm... after few cases of beer.

Very similar.
You go out in the woods with a shotgun, some shotgun shells and a bag full of golf balls.
Instead of saying "4" in the traditional golfing you say "Pull".

;o)

My son has a barrel attachment for the AR15 that actually shoots a golf ball with blank cartridge.

Pete,

Love your new quote, the live audio of the Baroness from the floor of the house of commons is  incredible!

But Churchill has a lot of better quotes!  What you got against the Navy?  /JK

Phil

phil,

i have nothing against the squids.. i meant.. navy x) actually, i like squids. they go very well lightly poached and served with korean hot bean paste mixed with simple white vinegar and sugar.. some sesame oil adds nice note.. and seeds. and as far as i know.. chuichill said that that wasn't even his quote. but hard life of limeys in service of the queen, or king at the time, is rather nicely illustrated in that quote.

talking about which.. i noticed that everyone's asleep and i'm the only one posting at this wee hour. just cleaning out the fridge of old beer and cider bottles. x)

I'd never seen that quote before you put it in your sig line, Pete. But whenever I read it, I find it humorous - though for the limeys involved, I suppose it wasn't.

Pete, I had a friend from England who was a young woman in WWII.  She use to go out at night and sit on a log and watch the dog fights in the sky, much to the dismay of her family.  Eileen ended up taking her younger brother to France for his safety and worked in an ambulance and helped hide people.  She told me that the soldiers would routinely go through and crush the hands of the little boys so as to make it more difficult for them to hold a gun.

She idolized Winston Churchill and when she came to America by way of Gibraltar she worked at the Embassy in D.C.  I know she told me she picked up one of his used stoogies and kept it for a long time.  I don't know if this was in England or America.  She was one of a kind.  I miss her but I was happy that she was on this earth for over ninety years, doing good things for animals and aggravating people.  A fine role model.
